Valentine’s Day Couples Contest Entry: Stephanie and Denise as Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune!
Stephanie and Denise entered our Valentine’s Day Couples Contest as Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune respectively! Denise used our Hestia Wig in Emerald Green to complete her cosplay! While Stephanie did not use one of our wigs this time around, we do have wigs great to use for Sailor Uranus! We recommend that you use a Chronos Wig in Rich Butterscotch as a base wig so you have enough length to trim down and style to her look! Check out pictures and their story below!

What inspired you to do these cosplays? We just really fell in love with the manga art that inspired these dresses and I think that’s what ultimately made this a really unique experience because we just hadn’t seen too many interpretations of these gowns in real life. Plus, Uranus and Neptune were a fantastically awesome duo, and Denise and I had been racking our brains for a good pair to cosplay. We also had the height difference to pull it off, I thought. We thought it would be a fun, nostalgic cosplay for people at Anime Expo, but especially for us. And we weren’t wrong. It was an amazing time and Denise taught my so much about drafting patterns during the whole process.
What got you into cosplay? Denise – I got into cosplay because my friends I attended Anime Expo w/ in 2002, said that “we should all dress up as characters or people that we like, because that’s what we do at conventions”.
Steph – Sailor Moon was my inspiration to begin cosplaying, since I wanted to embody the sailor scouts so badly as a kid. It wasn’t until I met my boyfriend and discovered the cosplay community that I really got invested in it.
Why do you love cosplay?Denise – The first time I cosplayed, I met a lot of people who shared the same interests as I did, and just being able to meet new friends by cosplay, makes all of it worth it. I have grown to love the technical side of cosplay, documenting the construction and researching new and better techniques to create something, but I’ve also been able to make new friends, share ideas and constantly be inspired by these new friends, which makes cosplay really fun. I have met some of my closest friends through cosplay, and as long as I can continue to learn interesting techniques and make new friends, I will cosplay!
Steph – I love cosplay because it brings so many different people together under one common interesting. Cosplay has been such a welcoming, accepting hobby and each convention I go to inspires me to be better and better at the craft. I always walk away from these events with new friends and amazing memories unlike anything else. It’s a chance to share my love of this culture with others who are just as passionate about it as me. It’s not just geeking out, though. It’s taking what you love and turning it into something tangible.
