Here’s one of the entries for our Valentine’s Day Couples Contest! Joseph and Mary are cosplaying as Superboy and Miss Martian from Young Justice! While neither of these cosplayers used our wigs to cosplay as these characters we have a few recommendations for styles in case you are looking to cosplay as either of these characters in the future! For a Superboy cosplay we recommend our Hermes Wig in Dark Brown. For a Miss Martian cosplay we recommend using our Dionysus Wig in Autumn Orange (discontinued). What inspired you to do this cosplay:
Part of a larger Young Justice group – plus, SuperMartian is just adorable! I also wanted to try out a costume requiring body paint.
What got you into cosplay:
Joseph and I have both been cosplaying casually for years. My first costume was Utena from “Revolutionary Girl Utena” back in 2003 when my friend Samantha told me about these things called “conventions” and that people actually dress up like characters from the shows! I basically thought it was the coolest thing ever! Joseph and I hooked up with our current cosplay group, TL;DR Cosplay, in 2011, and by sharing resources we began to make more, better costumes and attend several cons a year instead of just one. The more we do it, the more we both love it! We also cosplay Fox Mulder and Dana Scully from “The X-Files.”
Why you love cosplay:
Cosplay gives us an opportunity to become someone else and experience a different attitude and way of life. More than that, we get to sharpen our creativity and crafting skills. It is really rewarding to see something through from start to finish, especially when even strangers can appreciate your hard work and finished product.
