– What inspired you to do these cosplays?
We love this series! Adventure Time is this great blend of sophisticated themes and cheery, wide-eyed fun, and the idea of adventuring around a dark and strangely magical world really appeals to both of us. For both of us, cosplay is about experiencing new things, meeting interesting people, and discovering a world that’s a little more magical. Fionna and Finn are both a little like Alice, exploring their own Wonderlands, and that really appealed to both of us. And besides, who doesn’t want an excuse to make their very own Jake and Cake plushes?
– What got you into cosplay?
Emmacchi has been cosplaying since 2000, and blames a childhood of her mum’s fantastical Halloween costumes for her desire to start making her own. When we started dating a few years ago, Hazard decided to give cosplay a try, and has been a fan ever since.
– Why do you love cosplay?
It may be tough to tell from these costumes (since they’re so simple), but we love the challenge of translating a 2-D drawing into a 3-D costume. We make almost everything from scratch, and we enjoy the creation process as much as the finished product. We’ve also met some of our dearest friends through this hobby, and there’s hardly any place we’d rather be than decked out in costume with our cosplaying friends. Lastly, cosplay has been an enormous part of our relationship from almost day one, and has become an unquestionable part of our identity as a couple.
