Here’s Luluko Cosplay’s second submission in our Show Us Your Moves program! She choose to feature her Mami Tomoe cosplay from Puella Magi Madoka Magica!
In order to obtain the look she ordered she ordered our Chronos wig in Butterscotch Blonde and added extensions to it to obtain her curls.
Without further ado, here’s Luluko’s submission for Mami Tomoe!
I basically recycled my answers from the first submission, hope that’s okay.
The wig is a short Lelouch style in butterscotch blonde, with extensions.

– What got you into cosplay?
Halloween was always my favorite holiday as a kid, even more so than Christmas. Admittedly I was never super nerdy growing up – I loved Pokemon, Yugioh, DBZ, and Digimon as a kid, but I grew out of it after a while and really only loved Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings. I actually got back into anime the summer before I started college – through Yugioh Abridged of all things! It inspired me to go back and watch the original series… then I entered the fandom…. and discovered that people actually dress up like these characters more than one day a year! Almost immediately I knew this was something I wanted to do, and I honestly feel like it is what I was meant to do.
– How long have you been cosplaying?
I have been cosplaying since April 2009, so I am going into my fourth year of cosplaying
– Were there any particular reasons you selected this character?
I’ll admit I didn’t absolutely fall in love with Mami at first. I first watched the show in its near entirety a couple of days before the finale. The show absolutely blew my mind and broke my heart, but I didn’t really attach myself to any particular character – I could see some of myself in each of the girls, which I suppose is part of the genius of the writing. A few friends of mine were planning a cosplay group for later that year, and since Mami had my favorite outfit design, and wasn’t already taken, I volunteered for it. I’m actually a little ashamed to admit that – usually I only choose characters that I really, really love to cosplay, but through the process of making the costume and cosplaying Mami with others, I truly learned to love her character. She may not be in the show very much but she is given so much characterization in that short amount of time, and that to me is pretty incredible. Through cosplaying her I found that we are both natural leaders – we like to be in charge and and help others learn, and are most confident when we’re in that position. But we’re both also, secretly, very lonely, and always longing for someone to be a true friend to us. Much like in the show, my friend who cosplayed Madoka became that person for me, and Mami will always be a special character to me for that reason.
– What would you consider the most difficult part of this costume?
I wouldn’t say any single part was very difficult, though the corset and boot covers gave me some trouble. The challenge to this costume was just the sheer amount of things I had to make. Normally with a costume you can buy a pre-styled wig, or stockings, or shoes. But on this costume, I literally had to make everything myself! It was very time consuming but I am very proud of this costume for that reason. It even helped me to get my first craftsmanship award at SabotenCon 2011.
– What cosplay would you like to do in the future?
So many of them! I absolutely love Saber from Fate and plan to do many versions of her in the future; right now I’m working on her red dress from Fate/Extra. I’m also working on Zelda from Skyward Sword, and I’ll be using yet another EpicCosplay wig for that as well! For next year I will finally be completing Rachel Alucard, a dream of mine for a couple of years now. I would also like to do Aigis from Persona 3 and Noire from Hyperdimension Neptunia. And of course I will be making new Sheryl outfits as well!
– What’s your favorite part about cosplaying?
Being inspired, meeting friends, collaborating creatively, being able to say, “I made that!”
